2019 / Director - Bong Joon Ho / 2H 12 minute / The Kims - mother and father Chung-sook and Ki-taek, and their young adult offspring, son Ki-woo and daughter Ki-jung - are a poor family living in a shabby and cramped half basement apartment in a busy lower working class commercial district of Seoul. Without even knowing it, they, especially Mr. and Mrs. Kim, literally smell of poverty. Often as a collective, they perpetrate minor scams to get by, and even when they have jobs, they do the minimum work required. Ki-woo is the one who has dreams of getting out of poverty by one day going to university. Despite not having that university education, Ki-woo is chosen by his university student friend Min, who is leaving to go to school, to take over his tutoring job to Park Da-hye, who Min plans to date once he returns to Seoul and she herself is in university. The Parks are a wealthy family who for four years have lived in their modernistic house designed by and the former residence of famed architect Namgoong. While Mr. and Mrs. Park are all about status, Mrs. Park has a flighty, simpleminded mentality and temperament, which Min tells Ki-woo to feel comfortable in lying to her about his education to get the job. In getting the job, Ki-woo further learns that Mrs. Park is looking for an art therapist for the Parks" adolescent son, Da-song, Ki-woo quickly recommending his professional art therapist friend "Jessica", really Ki-jung who he knows can pull off the scam in being the easiest liar of the four Kims. In Ki-woo also falling for Da-hye, he begins to envision himself in that house, and thus the Kims as a collective start a plan for all the Kims, like Ki-jung using assumed names, to replace existing servants in the Parks" employ in orchestrating reasons for them to be fired. The most difficult to get rid of may be Moon-gwang, the Parks" housekeeper who literally came with the house - she Namgoong"s housekeeper when he lived there - and thus knows all the little nooks and crannies of it better than the Parks themselves. The question then becomes how far the Kims can take this scam in their quest to become their version of the Parks / South Korea / user ratings - 8,9 of 10 star

Imagine not wanting to watch such a brilliant movie because you have to read the subtitles. ?? ?? I cant stand people. This movie gave me goosebumps afterwards. Woah lots of interesting shots, looks like they went full on “Every Frame a Painting. Definitely going to watch. The Koreans really know how to make movies. Never fail to amaze. As a korean, I find it very surprising how western audiences understand and resonate with Korean social commentaries. This film include quite a number of Korean-specific-things that I thought western audience would not understand. But here I am seeing every one of youtube film critics praising this movie. World may be one after all.

“The South Korean film has become the first non-English language movie to win best picture at the Academy Awards” Never disappoint, so happy right now??. Bong Jongho: Why? Wooshik, starts sweating nervously: Uhhhhh. I was expecting to see some weird looking hand called Migi. It"s actually hilarious when people are mad about having to read subtitles. It"s seriously funny to see. Awesome video thanks. L love this movie so much just seeing shots from it makes me grin. "Parasite" starts out as a biting, laugh-a-minute satire about class, but then sharply pulls out the rug from under it"s audience in the best of ways that defines easy genre categorization.

When Park Seo Joon comes by, I was like. I know this dude. because the face wasn"t clear and I"m blind af, it took me awhile. but then he screams (curses) and I was like AH YES THATS HIM ALRIGHT, MY BOI SEO JOONIE I know this is very stupid, but for me personally, I was so happy I was able to identify him through his way of acting and his voice alone. This movie has such a great message about our society. im deeply moved and wanna cry so bad after watching it but it wont come out. the best thing about it is its something not only happening in South Korea but also in most other parts of the world. a great movie transcends borders and relates to everyone ??.

Best scene in the movie, the concussed lady throwing up in a toilet as it quickly cuts to the familys toilet erupting with sewage water almost like the pipes were directly connected. The Film starts slow and steady, with Nicely captured Visuals, as the film proceeded it Gets intresting at some point there"re some unexpected turn arounds and during the climax the film leaves you anxious, one of the finest films that i have watched. What is all the excitement about? I watched the first 57min and could not find anything particularly funny, or interesting or clever. The acting is flat, the personalities of the characters are not compelling. I"m not wondering what happens next. I"ll give a movie an hour but by then it has to pay off or I"m done.

I"m really upset that none of these extremely talented Korean actors were nominated for awards. 6:25 just realized how brilliant of a facial expression this actor conveyed in this scene. absolutely horrific and hilarious. Bong"s movie is truly a masterpiece for the ages. I was honestly surprised to see such a turn in plot, feelings and actions. My heart was a roller coaster of emotions, laughing and being comfortably sitted and later on the edge of my seat, not laughing now but still rooting for them. The soundtrack was gorgeous, the editing superb, the acting was so genuine and looked effortless. This movie really spiked my interest not only in more of Bong"s movies but in korean movies in general.

Is the movie being advertised as 0.99 to anyone else and then actually costing 5.99. I thought it was interesting that the start of the montage, when it says she may look like a sheep, but on the inside she"s a fox. sometimes she acts like she owns the house, it"s referring to the housekeeping, but the camera lingers on Ki-Jeong and those words could sort of refer to her too since she"s very cunning but acts innocent, and later her family points out how easily she fits into the Park"s lifestyle. This movie is so amazing, getting more impressed and into other korean films. Don"t read another review. Don"t watch a trailer. As soon as you get the next opportunity, watch this film. That"s all.
